We are seeking an experienced Technical Buyer to support production, engineering, maintenance, automation, and facility-related purchasing activities. The position requires close collaboration with on-site engineers to clarify technical requirements, convert operational needs into clear purchasing specifications, and participate in the technical evaluation and finalization of supplier solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with on-site Engineering, Maintenance, Production, Quality, and Warehouse teams to understand and clarify purchasing requirements.
- Convert internal requests into clear RFQ packages, including technical specifications, drawings, part numbers, quantities, acceptance criteria, lead times, and delivery requirements.
- Participate in supplier technical discussions, solution reviews, quotation evaluations, and specification finalization.
- Coordinate engineering and commercial reviews to ensure supplier proposals meet technical, quality, delivery, and cost requirements.
- Support the sourcing of MRO materials, machine spare parts, tooling, fixtures, automation components, equipment, production consumables, and facility supplies.
- Process purchase requisitions, issue purchase orders, and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
- Respond quickly to emergency purchasing requests that may affect production continuity.
- Conduct local sourcing and, when necessary, visit suppliers or retail locations to purchase and collect urgent materials.
- Identify and evaluate qualified suppliers based on technical capability, cost, quality, delivery, and service.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, warranties, and other commercial conditions.
- Track open purchase orders, shortages, delayed deliveries, and supplier corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate purchasing and material records in SAP and related systems.
- Support MES-based material traceability and ensure purchasing documentation is complete and accurate.
- Resolve receiving, invoice, quantity, quality, and pricing discrepancies.
- Support cost reduction, supplier consolidation, localization, and inventory optimization initiatives.
Qualifications
- Minimum five years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated employment stability, including at least two continuous years in a recent comparable position.
- Experience working directly with engineering and maintenance teams on technical purchasing requirements.
- Ability to understand technical specifications, drawings, BOMs, equipment requirements, and supplier proposals.
- Hands-on experience with SAP is required.
- Familiarity with MES, material traceability systems, and manufacturing workflows is strongly preferred.
- Strong supplier negotiation, order follow-up, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Able to manage multiple urgent priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Willing and able to work Monday through Saturday and adjust working hours when production support is required.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to support local purchasing and supplier visits.
- Strong English communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Mandarin Chinese proficiency is preferred due to frequent communication with suppliers and internal teams in China.
Preferred Background
- Experience purchasing machine spare parts, tooling, fixtures, automation components, electrical parts, mechanical parts, or production equipment.
- Experience in automotive, electronics, metal stamping, machining, or automated assembly operations.
- Familiarity with supplier technical evaluation, equipment acceptance, cost analysis, inventory control, and supplier development.
